Kitchen Remodeling Ideas
The kitchen is a very important part of you house because this is the place that the whole family uses a lot. If you have a small kitchen which can only accommodate two, it can still be enlarged through remodeling. Below are some ideas on how to make that small kitchen visually large.
One of the ways that you can make your small and tight kitchen look large is by making it light and bright. Your kitchen should be painted the color white. With white paint, light will be reproduced. It can also expand the sense of space and draws out your walls. A white countertop will help make it look larger. You can also choose white or light colors for your cabinets and other furniture that are mounted on the walls. Your space will be seamless, bright, tidy, and uncluttered.
Another way to make your small kitchen look bigger is by organizing all your kitchen components in adjacent colors, or colors which are almost identical or have slight differences when put together. Since demarcating lines will disappear, you will have a seamless look. Your cabinets, countertops, appliances, and other furniture should have identical colors as well. You should arrange your kitchen in such a way that your appliances, cabinets, and countertop will harmonize your chosen color tone.
A window that lets natural light in will help. Make sure that if you are going to put a blind or a curtain, the color will match the kitchen color scheme. Natural lighting during the daytime can dispel the suffocating sensation of limited space. If you have a single tall window that you can open, then you can put some blinds of curtains on it. Or you can eliminate the curtains or blinds by using smoky glass for your windows for privacy but still lets the natural light in.
Your design should include allowances for drawing the eye up to increase the height of the space. You can put moldings on the gap between the crown of your shelves and the ceiling to draw attention. Other things can be put up that space to make that effect of height increase like wine racks or ceramic platters plus dramatic lighting. When you purchase cabinets, they are usually standard in sizes but the height of home ceilings varies from house to house. And, most of the time, ceilings and walls are not accurately square. This is why there is a gap formed by the cabinet tops and the ceilings. Putting your cabinets very near to the ceiling will not leave space in between them. If there is space in your kitchen then you can make space feel bigger by visualizing this space. You can decorate the space with panels, molding or ornaments.
